New Client: Karen Katchur

I’m so happy to welcome Karen Katchur to PSLA as our newest author! Women’s fiction, mystery/crime, ghost story author extraordinaire, Karen has penned THE BONES OF LESTER HAINES, her debut novel, that will haunt you in the best way possible…

THE BONES OF LESTER HAINES spans a decades-old friendship between three women growing up in a gritty Pennsylvania slate mining town. Destined for a hard life, the ten-year old girls form a friendship club called Slate Sisters out of a basic need to belong. When the Slate Sisters are fifteen, the vulgar stepfather of one of the girls disappears. They are the last to see him in the woods near the Appalachian Trail where they hang out, skipping school. They tell no one, keeping a secret that will haunt them for the rest of their lives.

Thirty years later, the unearthing of the stepfather’s bones catches the Slate Sisters by surprise, but it’s the discovery of a murder weapon linking one of them to the crime that threatens their secret and jeopardizes their friendship at a time in their lives when they need each other most. In the tradition of Alice Sebold and Gillian Flynn and THE BONES OF LESTER HAINES is set against the landscape of a missing person case telling a story about friendship and loyalty and how the people you least suspect are the ones who surprise you most.
